2015 Annual Report
The Public Lighting Authority has transformed Detroit’s public lighting infrastructure from an antiquated, dysfunctional system to a model operation that speaks to Detroit’s ongoing recovery.
Two years ago, more than 40 percent of the streetlights didn’t work and residents waited months, if not years, for a broken light to be repaired. Today, every neighborhood is well lit, we repair any malfunctioning lights within five days, and we are finalizing plans to install new lights in downtown Detroit, beginning this spring.
We invite you to explore our online Annual Report so you will have a complete overview of the tremendous progress we have made in this historic effort – the largest public lighting project underway anywhere in the nation.
We look forward to beginning construction downtown this spring and completing the relight of Detroit in 2016 as we continue to fulfill our mission.
We are proud that the Public Lighting Authority is playing such a major role in Detroit’s comeback.
